A girl and her books

I love books and I love reading. If you ever see me anywhere, you can bet I'll have a book with me.

Fit to be tied by Mary Calmes

Fit to be Tied - Mary Calmes

Maybe not as good as the previous one but still pretty damn good.

I liked to know more about Miro and Ian and how they were doing with their relationship, that is still pretty new, and their work partnership.

On top of the daily problems, a convict with a personal vendetta against Miro escapes from prison and goes after him.

Miro and Ian have to go under cover/under protection and, of course, that only causes more trouble for them, because with their luck, trouble always finds them.

I wish there was more in the series.

All kinds of tied down by Mary Calmes

All Kinds of Tied Down - Mary Calmes

I liked this one. It was very dynamic from the start.

I loved that it actually has a plot and action, drama, strong characters and healthy friendships.

What I do have a problem with is that one of the main characters, and love interest, is gone for at least 1/3 of the book and as soon as he comes back he's full on a committed relationship with the love interest that stayyed. I wish the "get together" part had been a bit more slow paced.

It is still enjoyable though I did liked it. And we also have Sam Kage in this one, i loved to read about him again, even if he's not a main character.

Perfect Imperfections by Cardeno C.

Perfect Imperfections - Cardeno C.

This is the Cardeno I know and love. I absolutely adored this book. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Both Jeremy and Reg were so cute. I loved their relation because first of all they were friends.

And Reg supported Jeremy and gave him time to figure his feelings on his own and did not act without consent.

Their love was so pure but above all, it was healthy. I loved that and you have no idea how much I love those kind of stories.

With this book I've found my lost love for Cardeno again.

Takeover by Anna Zabo

Takeover - Anna Zabo

I liked the story quite a lot but I think it could do without so much sex. I know, I know the book's supposed to have lots of it but I feel like it could have been good without so much sex.

The sex scenes were far too long and, if you listened to the audiobook like I did, I just wanted them to be over.

It does have bdsm thought not so much. Just the easy beginner stuff to put it in a way cause Sam is just getting into it. I'm not a fan of bdsm but as it was light I didn't mind it so much.

Sam and Michael story was pretty goo and well thought and written. Overall a good book. I liked it.

SPOILER ALERT!

Unwrapping Hank by Eli Easton

Unwrapping Hank - Eli Easton

Not very interesting. Gay college frat boy meets closeted college frat boy that lives practically in Narnia.

They hate each other, they are forced to spend time together, they become friends, everything goes well after that, both living happily in denial of how attracted they are to each other until they have to spend Christmas together.

Closeted guy can't hide his feelings anymore but refuses to make a move until someone else does it. Then his jealousy gets in the way and suddenly they're all over each other confessing their undying love.

Everything went from 0 to 100 so fast. I wish the part of getting together had been more slow pa

Books...

Reblogged from Hol:

Books, books, books... And I'm poor now

So far this month I bought 7 books. I have spent $1,056 (Argentine pesos) in 7 books. It's too much. I spent my savings on books. I want for books to be cheaper in this country, I don't have a stable job to be spending that kind of money! I feel so guilty right now! but the worst part is that I don't regret it!

Eric by Terry Pratchett

Eric - Terry Pratchett

Another geniusly work of Pratchett. The next in the story of Rincewind the wizard, who, again, is dealing with other people's adventures that became his misadventures.

We have some familiar characters like Rincewind itself, The Luggage and Death. But there are other new, like the second protagonist of the story, Eric, the last demonologist of the disc, who also has 13 years.

It is a series of unfortunate events one after another but so brilliantly narrated that it wil surely make you laugh out loud more than once.
If you haven't read it yet, do it you won't regret it. Read the Rincewind saga, it's amazing.

SPOILER ALERT!

Dinner at home by Rick R. Reed

Dinner At Home - Rick R. Reed

I was a bit disappointed with this one.

It's slow, nothing much happens, except for bad things for Ollie and Hank. Their bad luck made me feel so impotent, I wanted them to be mad, to react and lash out, but they just took it.

Then, things happen so fast and when they finally have a break and everything seems to be going well, the past comes for them and all is going down the drain again.

I would have loved it ig things had gone different and Hank sister and niece had stayed instead. I don't see why they had to be all the way across the country when supposedly they have not family left but themselves. Talk about unnecessary plots to thicken the story that ends up not making sense.

SPOILER ALERT!

Winter Kill by Josh Lanyon

Winter Kill - Josh Lanyon

Again, another let down. Don't do this to me, Lanyon. It's like you're trying too hard to create this complicated mysterious story but it doesn't make sense once you read it.

Lots of loose ends and nonsense plots, with an ending too abrupt.

Yet another book where the "Love story" doesn't convince me.

SPOILER ALERT!

Salvage the bones by Jesmyn Ward

Salvage the Bones - Jesmyn Ward

Ugh. What a disappointment. I read this book for my reading challenge thinking it was going to be good, considering it was a winner of the National Book Award but, thought the narrative was interesting enough to keep me reading, I hated the main protagonist from page one.

She was childish, selfish, and self centered. She wasn't a child anymore to be acting like a spoiled brat and was old enough to understand that her actions have consequences.

And don't let me start with the end. It felt too abrupt, too rushed. So i finished the book like there was some of the story missing.

Also the violence towards the animals in the book was not acceptable nor understandable, no matter how much the boy loved the dog and how hard their situation was.

This rough magic by Josh Lanyon

This Rough Magic - Josh Lanyon

Pretty disappointed with this one. Started okay but I lost the interest in the story pretty early on.

The mystery felt like it tried too much too hard and ended up being too complicated. The closure was too abrupt and you pretty much are left saying to yourself wtf? after you finish it.

The villains were chosen more to distract the reader than contribute with the story. also, the "love story" didn't convince me at all.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe

Very short. First read of the year.

You get into the story pretty fast. I liked that while reading I got to know about a very different culture and traditions I'm not familiar with nor used to them, so I must admit that I got pretty mad with th traditions and actions sometimes during the reading.

I also liked to read about the colonization from a point of view different than the one we're mostly used to read in schools books or more european centric books.

It was an interesting read. I think I'll read the next in the trilogy.

Reading progress update: I've read 65%.

Between Shades of Gray - Ruta Sepetys

I swear to god if anything happens to Jonas, I swear to God.....
